Athletes and volunteers have made many sacrifices to play or manage the sport of Ultimate. Each year USA Ultimate recognizes community members who have excelled in their area of focus or contribution to the sport. Below is a description of the awards that are distributed annually.
Coordinators of the Year
Each year, USA Ultimate recognizes its top volunteer coordinators from each of its competitive divisions.
College Awards (Top coaches & players per year by region/division, including freshmen)
Voted on by the captains of the completing teams in the College Series, these players demonstrate superior athleticism, devotion, leadership, and skill. First and second team honors for each region are listed, including the top Freshman. The top coaches of the year per regional gender division are voted on by the players from that regional gender division.
Coach of the Year (College & Youth)
Voted on by competing teams in the college series, these coaches have demonstrated the skill to advance their teams in terms of skill and respect for the game and opponents.
Spirit Awards
Each team at the Club Championships nominate one of their players for an individual spirit award. In the Men's, Women's, and Masters divisions, one of these individual are awarded with additional honors in the form of the Peter Farricker (Men's), Kathy Pufahl (Women's), and Marty Bakko (Masters) award.
Affiliate Recognition
Each year, USA Ultimate recognizes its top Affiliate organizations, advancing the sport of ultimate for local communities around the nation, as well as their top individual contributors.
