World Games Teammates Nicky Spiva and Dylan Tunnell to Teach Ultimate Clinic in Tallahassee
Event Held to Promote Local Awareness Among Youth of the Sport of Ultimate
Tallahassee, FL - World Games Gold Medalist 2013, Nicky Spiva, will teach an ultimate clinic in Tallahassee on Saturday, Feb. 1st, 2014 from 1:30-4:30 p.m. at Messer South Park. Hosted and sponsored by @JHCre8tive, the event is intended to promote local awareness of the sport of ultimate. Other organizations, such as VCUltimate, NexGen, DiscStore, and Ultiphotos, have contributed to the event.
Spiva may also be joined by Dylan Tunnell. Both Spiva and Tunnell competed in the World Games with the U.S. National Ultimate Team and both won gold medals. They currently play for the club team Atlanta Chain Lightning, a Pro Flight team in USA Ultimate’s Triple Crown Tour. Spiva teaches high school math in Nashville and Tunnell serves as a firefighter in Atlanta.
The event is put on by ultimate enthusiast and ultimate mom Julia Holly. In exchange for her donation to USA Ultimate's World Games, she was awarded the opportunity to host a clinic given by one of their athletes. "I love this sport and am passionate about making it more widely known, especially to young people who want an alternative to traditional sports that involve aggressive contact."
Ultimate is an American sport, created by young people in the ’60s. The sport combines the rules of football, soccer, and basketball and its international popularity has surged in the last decade.
