USA ULTIMATE EQUITY TASK FORCE, LEADERSHIP ORGANIZES RETREAT WITH JANET JUDGE
NCAA Title IX Manual Co-Author, EADA Compliance Advisor and Leading Equity Expert to Conduct Retreat in Chicago
Colorado Springs, Colo. (Nov. 5, 2015)—USA Ultimate, the national governing body for the sport of ultimate in the United States, announced today that one of the world’s leading experts on equity in sports, Janet Judge, will lead and facilitate a retreat with USA Ultimate’s Equity Task Force and senior leadership team Nov. 14-15 in Chicago.
The weekend will also include another opportunity for the ultimate community to participate in an open forum designed to address questions and concerns related to equity. This forum, the second hosted by USA Ultimate this year, will be conducted via teleconference on Saturday, Nov. 14 at 5:00 p.m. ET.
Ms. Judge is the President of Sports Law Associates LLC and is considered one of the country’s leading experts on sports-related issues. Her diverse legal and athletics experience comes from years of advising a variety of institutions on a number of subjects, including Title IX issues, Equity in Athletics Disclosure Act (EADA) compliance, pay equity, harassment, strategic program development, NCAA eligibility and more.
Ms. Judge, who co-authored the
NCAA Manual on Gender Equity, has served as an advisor to academic institutions and athletic conferences for more than 20 years with regard to all aspects of Title IX compliance. She currently serves as one of three instructors teaching the National Association of College and University Attorneys Title IX coordinator course. Throughout her career, Ms. Judge has conducted workshops and seminars for more than 500 NCAA Division I, II and III institutions, athletic conferences and coaches’ associations with an emphasis on leadership, ethics and discrimination, among other topics.
As the former assistant director of athletics at Harvard University, where she was also a three-sport varsity student-athlete, Ms. Judge was responsible for overseeing the Harvard/Radcliffe Foundation for Women’s Athletics, an umbrella organization designed to accelerate and broaden the base of support for the women’s athletic program at Harvard.
During its time at the retreat, the task force will learn from Ms. Judge’s experiences, identify USA Ultimate’s organizational needs, address membership concerns as they relate to equity, and develop and refine the task force’s role.
