Colorado Springs, Colo. (Oct. 18, 2015) – As part of the organization’s ongoing efforts to increase youth and girls’ outreach efforts, USA Ultimate, the national governing body for the sport of ultimate in the United States, continues to expand its youth volunteer structure.

After instituting significant additions late last year, eight new regional outreach positions, four Girls’ Regional Outreach Directors and four Regional Outreach Directors, have just been added to the current volunteer structure. The additions will allow for more localized support and increase the ability of the National Girls’ Outreach Director and the National Outreach Director to focus their energies on programs and planning at the national level while supporting the new regional directors.

The Girls’ Regional Outreach Directors and Regional Outreach Directors will enable the sport to be extended into new communities around the country and will create additional playing opportunities for youth. USA Ultimate education and outreach programs like Learn to Play, GUM clinics and the Coaching Development Program will be more easily accessible in areas all around the United States. The new regional directors will support Girls’ State Outreach Coordinators and State Outreach Coordinators, as they implement USA Ultimate youth outreach programs at the state and local level.

Alongside the additions to the volunteer structure is some movement at the national level. Heather Ann Brauer will move from her current position as Girls’ National Outreach Director and assume the role of GUM Chair after the recent departure of Zara Cadoux, who was Brauer’s co-chair in the initial stages of the Girls’ Ultimate Movement. As a result, USA Ultimate is also looking to fill Brauer’s current role as Girls’ National Outreach Director.

Job descriptions for the new regional outreach director positions, as well as the Girls’ National Outreach Director position, are available on USA Ultimate's Get Involved page.

If you would like more information or are interested in getting involved, contact USA Ultimate Manager of Education and Youth Programs (Dan Raabe) at dan@hq.usaultimate.org.
