USA Ultimate Looking for U-23 National Team Coaches

Boulder, Colo. (June 24, 2014) – USA Ultimate is looking for coaches to select and lead the 2015 U-23 National Teams for the World Flying Disc Federation (WFDF) Under 23 World Championships. USA Ultimate will send teams in each of the open, women’s and mixed divisions to represent the U.S. at the Championships.

Coaches must:

  • be USAU Level I Certified or be willing to obtain Level I certification prior to the event; Level II certification highly desired for all head coach applicants,

  • have passed (obtain a green light) an NCSI background check, and

  • agree to the USA Ultimate National Team Coach Code of Conduct.

In addition, in order to be considered, all applicants must be able to attend the following:

  • Tryout Camp #1: November 15-16, 2014 (location TBD)

  • Tryout Camp #2: November 22-23, 2014 (location TBD)

  • Training Camp: early July 2015, one full week prior to the WFDF U-23 World Championships (location TBD)

  • WFDF U-23 World Championships: early July 2015 (location TBD)

U-23 team coaches will have a demonstrated commitment to strong character and sportsmanship and will be chosen based on criteria including ultimate coaching experience, ability and willingness to work with USA Ultimate administration, ability to work with players in the under-23 age group and experience with international competition.

Head coaches will be selected by the USA Ultimate Coaching Committee and USA Ultimate staff.  Both head coaches and assistant coaches must submit an application to be considered.  

Applications will be accepted through July 14, with head coaches to be selected by August 15.

To apply, fill out the 2015 U-23 National Team Coach Application as well as the Coaching Résumé Form. The coaching résumé should be submitted via email to Ty Krajec, USA Ultimate Manager of Competition & Athlete Programs. 

Team applications and tryout information will be announced later this summer.

At the 2013 WFDF U-23 World Championships, held in Toronto, Ontario, the United States took home gold in all three divisions: open, women’s and mixed.
