USA ULTIMATE INTRODUCES A NEW SIX-YEAR STRATEGIC PLAN
Vision, Core Values, Goals & Strategies Developed by the Ultimate Community Provide Guidance Through 2018

Boulder, Colo. (October 16, 2012)—USA Ultimate formally revealed today its blueprint for the future of the sport, publishing its 2013-2018 Strategic Plan. Nearly two years in the making, this plan will guide the organization for the next six years, while prioritizing various high-level goals and outlining the specific strategies and tactics that will be implemented to accomplish them.

Guided by Olympic and NGB planning expert Kae Rader of Rader Consulting, the USA Ultimate Board of Directors and staff, along with various focus groups and committees, collectively sought the input of USA Ultimate’s entire membership base and the Ultimate community to develop various elements of this ambitious and bold plan.

For the first time in the history of the organization, a vision and set of core values were developed to guide USA Ultimate. This vision and these values reflect what USA Ultimate stands for and serve as a foundation on which to build the sport’s future.

"We are very excited to share our plan for the next six years," said USA Ultimate CEO Dr. Tom Crawford. "Getting to this point was an 18-month-long process of listening, listening and more listening, followed by a great deal of analysis, deliberation and strategic thinking.  We had some very smart, talented and dedicated colleagues invest a significant amount of time, energy and thought into the development of this plan, and for that we are extremely grateful."

The new Strategic Plan emphasizes six primary goals relating to visibility, building up youth and grassroots programs and local leagues, events, Spirit of the Game, international competition and organizational stability and excellence. And while the plan doesn’t officially kick off until 2013, much of the groundwork has already been laid with some exciting announcements set to be made in the coming days.

The top goal for USA Ultimate over the course of the next six years is to increase the visibility of Ultimate – a goal that includes ambitious television and broadcast plans, sponsorship activation, emerging media and public relations efforts.

"Now we are psyched to get going with a strong and direct focus on growing our sport and showcasing the highest level of competitive Ultimate," continued Crawford.  "From my very first tournament in Sarasota three years ago I’ve been anxious and looking forward to producing our showcase events and phenomenal athletes in a manner that puts them on sport’s biggest stage. And now we’re going to do just that!  That effort, combined with a simultaneous grassroots strategy for strengthening partnerships with leagues and associations and helping them grow and thrive all over the country is incredibly exciting to me!"

The new six-year plan replaces the expiring one which comes to a successful conclusion at the end of this year.  The 2013-18 plan will primarily be used to guide decision making, resource allocation and prioritization.
