USA Ultimate in Search of Coaches for 2016 WJUC and WUGC

Colorado Springs, Colo. (April 23, 2015) – USA Ultimate, the national governing body for the sport of ultimate in the United States, is in search of coaches interested in selecting and leading the 2016 U.S. National Teams that will compete at the World Junior Ultimate Championships (WJUC) and the World Ultimate and Guts Championships (WUGC).
2016 will mark the first time U.S. teams in the mixed, open and women’s divisions at the World Ultimate and Guts Championships will be select teams managed by USA Ultimate. U.S. teams in the masters, and women’s masters divisions will continue to qualify for the event through the USA Ultimate Masters Championships. The 2015 Masters Championships are scheduled to be held in Aurora, Colo., July 24-26.
USA Ultimate will send teams in both the girls’ and open divisions to next year’s World Junior Ultimate Championships.
Coaches must:
- be USA Ultimate Level I certified or be willing to obtain Level I certification prior to the event (Level II certification highly desired for all head coach applicants),
- have passed an NCSI background check, and
- agree to the USA Ultimate National Team Coach Code of Conduct.
In addition, in order to be considered, applicants must be able to attend:
- two tryout camps for their respective teams,
- a training camp prior to the championship event, and
- the championship event, either WJUC or WUGC.

National team coaches will have a demonstrated commitment to strong character and sportsmanship and will be selected based on the following criteria:
- ultimate coaching experience,
- ability and willingness to work with USA Ultimate administration and support USA Ultimate’s mission and goals,
- ability to work with players in their specific division, and
- experience with international competition.
Head coaches will be selected by the USA Ultimate Coaching Committee and USA Ultimate staff. Both head coaches and assistant coaches must submit an application to be considered.
To apply, fill out the National Team Coach Application that corresponds with the team in which you are interested by May 17.
In addition, all applications must fill out the Coaching Résumé Form and return it via email.

Team application and tryout information will be announced this summer.
The 2016 World Ultimate and Guts Championships will take place June 18-25, in London, U.K.
