USA Ultimate Announces Location of 2016 High School Northeastern Championships

Colorado Springs, Colo. (Sept. 9, 2015) – USA Ultimate, the national governing body for the sport of ultimate in the United States, announced today that Pittsburgh, Pa., will host the 2016 High School Northeastern Championships. 

After two successful years in Portland, Maine, the 2016 High School Northeastern Championships will move southwest to Pittsburgh’s Slippery Rock University. Northeasterns will be held May 21-22, 2016, and will be hosted by Pittsburgh Ultimate.

"Pittsburgh Ultimate is thrilled to be hosting top-level high school teams from all over the Northeast Region," said Pittsburgh Ultimate Executive Director Christie Lawry. "We are excited to be working with Slippery Rock University to ensure that these teams and their families have outstanding playing, coaching, and spectating experiences at Northeasterns this upcoming May."

Pittsburgh played host to the 2005, 2006 and 2008 High School Eastern Championships, one of two annual regional youth championship events held before the move to a four-region structure took place in 2012.
