Day six of the World Club Championships, hosted by the World Flying Disc Federation, wrapped up to be very successful for the United States. In all of the divisions, an American team will be in the gold medal finals tomorrow.

In the Open division, Revolver won its semifinal game against Japan’s Bunka Shutter Buzz Bullets 17-14. Beau Kittredge and Josh Wiseman both helped Revolver get on the board with four goals apiece. In the other semifinals, Chain Lightning and Sockeye left everything on the field. Chain’s Josh Ziperstein scored six goals in the close game. But in the end, Sockeye advanced to the finals with the score of 16-15. After a close and disappointing loss in semifinals, the number one seed Chain Lightning moved into the bronze medal match against Japan’s Bunka Shutter Buzz Bullets. The semis took a lot out of the American club team, and they fell to Japan 19-17 taking fourth in the championships.

Ironside defeated Canada’s Invictus and Australia’s Colony to take fifth, and Doublewide beat Finland’s Karhukopla and Great Britain’s Clapham Ultimate to place ninth. In the end, all five open teams placed in the top ten of a field of 48.

In the Women’s Division, Brute Squad fell to Japan’s UNO in their semifinals 17-10 placing them in the bronze medal game. In the other semifinals Fury and Riot faced off. Riot’s Elisabeth Duffy was a scoring machine, scoring five of Riot’s points. But in the end, the number one seeded Fury prevailed and beat Riot 17-14. So Riot and Brute Squad faced off for their chance at bringing home some hardware. The bronze medal game ended up being a nail bitter, but in the end Riot ended up with hardware with a final of 14-12.

In other Women brackets, Backhoe was able to snatch up ninth place, placing well above its seed, with victories over Zeitgeist and Japan’s Chukyo University Naughty Kids. Zeitgeist was able to move on after the first game loss to Backhoe and beat the Czech Republic’s Hot Beaches to place 11th. Showdown has had a tough last two days, losing its last three games. But the team battled back to beat Canada’s Zephyr to place 15th out of the 32 Women’s teams.

In the Mixed Division, Mental Toss Flycoons and The Chad Larson Experience started the day out with a close semifinal game. In the end, Mental Toss lost by one in a 15-14 loss, advancing The Chad Larson Experience to the finals tomorrow. Quiet Coyote was in the other semifinal game against Canada’s Onyx. Unfortunately, Quiet Coyote was unable to come up with a happy ending falling to Onyx 14-12, knocking them down to the bronze medal game. For the bronze medal match, Mental Toss was trying to keep its third place seed that it went into the championships with. Quite Coyote, was not going to give up so easily, the team was seeded 12th going into the event. In the end, the teams took it down to the wire with Mental Toss prevailing with a 17-16 victory and a bronze medal.

The other American mixed teams rounded out the competition in good standing, with both of them landing in the top ten. AMP defeated Austria’s Upsadaisy 17-15 to place seventh. The number one seeded Axis of C’Ville, who lost in the first round of championship play, battled back to end up ninth.

The United States had three teams representing them in the Masters Division. O.L.D. S.A.G. was one of them that did not let their country down. They placed fifth in the division with wins over the Netherland’s Red Lights and Germany’s Wolpertinger. The two other American teams faced off in the Master Division finals. Going into the finals, Surly had something to prove. The team was seeded fourth, two spots below its Troubled Past opponents.
