Boulder, Colorado (May 3, 2010)—The Ultimate Players Association (UPA) announced today plans to launch a new website the week of May 23, 2010, in time to highlight the UPA College Championships. The dramatically redesigned website is one of several exciting changes on the horizon intended to raise the profile of Ultimate in the United States and create heightened awareness for one of the fastest growing team sports in America.

Designed in conjunction with the UPA by Americaneagle.com, the new website will feature many new components, including photo and video galleries and message boards, as well as the incorporation of user-generated content and a higher level of interactive features. It will also offer more streamlined navigation while using a much more stimulating and attractive platform to promote the UPA’s core mission components of Character, Community and Competition.

The UPA’s new site will continue to serve as the premier resource and information hub for the Ultimate community. Athletes, event, team and league organizers, coaches, volunteers and observers will notice a more user-friendly site, while all visitors will immediately be engaged by a visually appealing and dynamic site consisting of up-to-date news items and features, event coverage and multimedia and social networking elements.

UPA CEO Dr. Tom Crawford noted: “We have known for quite some time that we wanted to launch a new website, but we also wanted to take our time, find the right partner, and build a compelling and entertaining site that represents the excitement and real story of this amazing sport. Although we may have the normal technology hiccups coming out of the gate, we think the Ultimate community will enjoy and embrace our new site, and it will quickly grow to be the most informative and entertaining site dedicated to Ultimate in the world.”

One of the premier website design firms in the country, Americaneagle.com has completed more than 5,000 website projects for small companies, professional sports teams and leagues, Fortune 500 companies and other clients. Their clients include several NFL teams (Chicago Bears, N.Y. State-of-the-art programming, design and navigation have been hallmarks of their portfolio and will enable www.upa.org to communicate to a wider audience in a much more effective and exciting way.

The redesigned website is the first step in a series of major initiatives aimed at promoting the sport of Ultimate. As membership and UPA -sanctioned events continue to grow significantly, a new site represents another step in the evolution of the sport and the structure that supports it.
