The United States was well represented at the 2010 Junior Worlds in Heilbronn, Germany. The two U-19 teams dominated in pool play, both going undefeated, and came away with hardware in both the Open and Girls’ Division.

After a devastating universe point lost to Colombia on Friday, the girls were able to come out strong for the third-place game the next morning. The girls faced Australia, and went on to secure the bronze medal for the second time with a dominating 17-2 win. Colombia, the team’s only loss, went on to win the gold medal beating Canada 16-14.

For the Open Division, the boys went undefeated, winning every game by a large margin. In the eight pool game, the U.S. scored 136 points, and only allowed 34 scores. The boys kept their momentum going in the semifinals, where they faced Great Britain, earning  a 17-4 victory and securing themselves a spot in the finals for the fourth time in a row.

For the Boys final, the U.S. squad faced Canada, the same gold medal match-up that occurred in 2006 and 2008. With history repeating itself, the U.S. took the game 17-7 and the gold medal.

WFDF has several videos of the U.S. teams online, including Aaron Honn’s Greatest in the game against Germany.  The site also has some photo galleries.

We would like to thank the coaches and players who wrote daily write-ups to let us, and our members know what the teams were up to. As well as the parents who gave us access to their photos.

Congratulations to the 2010 World Junior U-19 teams – girls winning the bronze and the boys taking away the gold for the fourth straight time!
