USA ULTIMATE APPROVES TWO NEW DISCS FOR CHAMPIONSHIP-LEVEL COMPETITION
Discraft Ultra-Star, Westland Mold – Supercolor Center and Daredevil Gamedisc Added

Boulder, Colo. (August 8, 2013)—USA Ultimate approved two new discs for championship-level competition, with additional discs pending approval, the national governing body for the sport of Ultimate in the United States announced today.

The Discraft Ultra-Star, Westland Mold – Supercolor Center, and the Daredevil Gamedisc were both approved for championship play following comprehensive testing procedures by a 60-person Flight Test Pool, comprised of geographically diverse male and female athletes across USA Ultimate’s college and club divisions. The Flight Test Pool evaluates submissions based on parameters set by USA Ultimate’s Disc Standards Committee.

Those two models join the previously approved Discraft Ultra-Star, Westland Mold – Hot Stamp as the three models currently approved by USA Ultimate for use in its championship events.

Two additional models – the Innova Pulsar and the EuroDisc 175g Ultimate Standard – both received general approval, meaning that they are acceptable for use in non-championship play, such as leagues and tournaments, according to the Flight Test Pool. Those two models join the Discraft Ultra-Star, Web Mold – Hot Stamp as a generally approved disc.

USA Ultimate’s disc approval process is one that is ongoing, and additional manufacturers and models are currently under consideration for both championship and general level approval. Additional approved discs will be announced as they occur.
