USA ULTIMATE TO PRODUCE, HOST THE HUDDLE
Online Resource for Ultimate Players and Fans Moves to usaultimate.org in 2011

Boulder, Colo. (November 22, 2010)—The Huddle, an online publication that serves as a popular information hub to Ultimate players and fans around the world, will now be produced by USA Ultimate and hosted on usaultimate.org, the National Governing Body announced today.

Launched in 2007, The Huddle has established itself as one of the sport’s most informative resources, catering to young and developing players seeking out direct, strategy-based commentary from top coaches and athletes in the Ultimate community. Under USA Ultimate’s direction, The Huddle will carry on its mission of being a unique and valuable resource.

“Andy (Lovseth) and I are pumped to see where USA Ultimate can take this,” said The Huddle co-creator Ben Wiggins. “It’s been fun, stressful and a lot of work, but we think we’ve helped create something that is a real resource for players and fans around the world. With a permanent and professional organization behind it, we expect that The Huddle will only get bigger and better. That’s why we’re helping transition the site, along with our authors’ help, to a new administration with some great people working directly on it.”

The transition of The Huddle to usaultimate.org will take place over the next several weeks as archived issues are transferred, a dedicated webpage is constructed and new content is created. The next edition of The Huddle – the first since last May – is expected to be published in early 2011.

“We are thrilled to be adding another quality component to our stable of communications assets,” commented USA Ultimate Director of Marketing and Communications Andy Lee. “Ben, Andy and the vast network of contributors responsible for putting out The Huddle over the years have provided a tremendous service to the Ultimate community, and we hope to continue that trend with consistent, informative and insightful content. The theme of The Huddle has clearly been ‘for the community, by the community’, and so we will continue to call upon the many talented, passionate and dedicated volunteers who have been the backbone of the publication since its inception. Without them, this project could not continue.”
