Simeone Hired as Manager - Membership & Sport Development

Boulder, Colo. (May 20, 2014) – USA Ultimate, the national governing body for the sport of ultimate in the United States, announced today the hiring of a new team member in the Membership & Sport Development department.
Rebecca Simeone was named the new Manager of Membership & Sport Development and will work to support the department and achieve the membership recruitment, engagement and retention goals of USA Ultimate. She will engage with current members and encourage the recruitment and growth of the USA Ultimate membership while maintaining responsibility for many other duties in support of the organization.
Simeone holds a degree in business administration from SUNY-Geneseo. Professionally, she has spent time interning in public relations, working as a dock master assistant and performing operational support at the State Employees Credit Union headquarters in Albany, N.Y. Simeone was also a staff writer for the Lamron, SUNY-Geneseo’s student newspaper. Her experience working with a wide range of customers across each of her previous positions will help her make a smooth transition into USA Ultimate’s Membership & Sport Development department.
"Becca is very passionate about the sport," commented Director of Membership & Sport Development Melanie Byrd. "We were impressed by her strong communication and organizational skills. She also brings with her a wealth of customer service experience. We feel extremely confident that our members will be in great hands."
Simeone’s ultimate career includes participating at the division III college level with SUNY-Geneseo, playing with and captaining teams in the Albany Ultimate Disc League and competing with Italy’s Tuscan Ultimate club, while studying abroad.
"I’ve come a long way from playing D-III at SUNY Geneseo," said Simeone. "Now I’m excited to take the next step here at USA Ultimate and play a part in helping ultimate grow across the country." Simeone recently joined the headquarters team in Boulder, after relocating from upstate New York.
Simeone will be helping to fill a vacancy created by the departure of Anna Schott. A long-time member of the Membership & Sport Development department, Schott will be leaving USA Ultimate at the end of May to pursue a graduate degree in public health.
