Regional Beach Directors & 2015 WCBU Team Applications Open

Boulder, Colo. (April 17, 2014) – USA Ultimate, the national governing body for the sport of ultimate in the United States, announces the latest developments of its newest division: the application window is now open for the 2015 World Championships of Beach Ultimate National Teams, and volunteers are being sought for four new Regional Beach Director positions.
Regional Beach Directors
USA Ultimate is creating four volunteer positions to help manage its newest division. Four Regional Beach Directors will be tasked with helping develop the Beach Division structure and facilitate and coordinate beach ultimate opportunities in one of four geographic areas. The four geographic areas – initially identified as East Coast, Great Lakes, Gulf Coast and West Coast – will be defined in more detail as the Beach Division structure is developed.

2015 World Championships of Beach Ultimate – Team Applications
The 2015 World Championships of Beach Ultimate, hosted by the World Flying Disc Federation and Beach Ultimate Lovers Association, will take place in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, March 8-13, 2015. USA Ultimate will send teams to compete in each of the event’s seven divisions: open, women’s, mixed, open masters, women’s masters, mixed masters and grand masters.
The application period for each of the seven Beach National Teams is now open. Applications are due Friday, June 6, at 5pm MT. Interested athletes should fill out the application in its entirety before the submission deadline.
Team managers will be selected by July 11, and the application-based team selection process should be completed by August 1. Players will be notified by USA Ultimate if they have been selected to one of the teams.
In all, over 1,000 athletes on 60 teams from around the world are expected to compete at the 2015 Championships. At the last World Championships of Beach Ultimate in 2011, the United States’ six teams earned five gold medals and one silver.
