Preliminary End-of-Season College Rankings Now Available for Review

Boulder, Colo. (April 2, 2014)—With the college division regular season complete, USA Ultimate announced today its preliminary end-of-season rankings for both the men's division and women's division.

As a reminder, it should be noted that these are preliminary rankings only and are based on results reported by event organizers and teams at dozens of events over the last three months. As always, USA Ultimate will rely on the entire community – in particular teams, athletes and event organizers – to review these preliminary mid-week rankings and verify the results from which they were derived. After checking for accuracy, any discrepancies should be reported to USA Ultimate prior to the release of the final rankings.

The final regular season rankings and bid allocations for the 2014 USA Ultimate College Championship Series will be released on Friday, April 4 following the customary review period.

To review the results utilized in compiling the preliminary rankings, refer to the specific instructions and deadlines below, and visit USA Ultimate’s new event builder and score reporting pages here: http://play.usaultimate.org.

As described last fall, USA Ultimate’s own fully integrated event builder and score reporting function is now live after having been tested throughout the college season.

This new technology platform will be used for all 2014 USA Ultimate College Championship Series events, as well as all future USA Ultimate series, championship and sanctioned events from this point forward.

Following the relatively seamless launch of the new technology platform’s first phase, which included membership registration, enhanced payment features, and more robust member account and team management elements, USA Ultimate would like to remind the ultimate community that the second phase of this project is significantly more complex. Therefore, despite several months of testing by team and event organizers and individual members, it’s not unreasonable to expect minor glitches as the system is refined. As with all massive improvements of technology projects of this scale, there will continue to be a learning curve for the different user groups. As such, USA Ultimate will continue to provide assistance, make refinements, and welcome any questions, comments or suggestions in order to improve the system.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR TEAMS

For teams verifying results, please refer to these important notes and instructions below:

  • Team and event organizers should check game results in the new system, as the final end-of-season rankings are being run using these results.
  • Results in the new system can be compared to results in scorereport.net
  • Explanation for likely discrepancies between teams’ results and their record according to the preliminary rankings include:
    • Teams that forfeited games or had ineligible players on the roster at an event do not have those games counted in the rankings towards their 10-game minimum. This may be a result of issues with individual players or entire teams that did not submit rosters verified by their college registrar. (Teams that played against such teams will however have those games counted towards their 10-game minimum.)
    • Games with W-L results are not included in the rankings calculation but are still counted towards a team’s 10-game minimum ranking.
    • W-L records reflected in the preliminary rankings for each team include only games that have actual scores (not games with W-F or W-L results) against eligible opponents.

  • To report missing scores or correct inaccuracies, or to follow up on the eligibility status of players or teams, please refer to the following:
