Ohio State Fever lost the first point of the game after a turn close to their own end zone, but that seemed to be the only bad news on the day for Fever. Ohio State scored three straight to go up 3-1, and they never looked back. Ohio State used swings and quick handler movement to get their way on offense, marching up and down the field. On defense, they simply used a tight man defense.

Fugue looked flustered on offense, and it appeared to be from nerves, despite the team having plenty of Nationals experience, including championship game experience from 2013. They continuously overthrew their teammates or threw the disc straight into the ground, turnovers Fever converted into points. After Fugue fell down 3-1, they looked defeated and could not find a way to claw back into the game.

Ohio State used their quick movement to score repeatedly with both their offensive and defensive lines. Up two breaks, Fever took half 8-6. In the second half, the Fugue defense looked sluggish at times, and Fever found ways to capitalize, whether it was deep hucks or dink and dimes down the field, it seemed Fever could score at will.

Fever scored quickly upon receiving the pull after half, and the teams traded multiple scores back and forth to bring the score to 13-10. Fever got another break to take a four-point lead, and following a Fugue score, Fever marched right down the field, always finding the open player, to score the championship point, 15-11.

In the end, the game was decided on the top playmakers of each team and how they performed.  Fever had an answer for Adrienne Bovee, Oregon's highest scorer on the weekend; they shut her down in the end zone multiple times. Fever's Paige Soper played tight handler defense on Sophie Darch, Fugue's captain and most dynamic handler. Soper and Cassie Swafford, the 2014 Callahan Award winner, were able to lead several marches down the field, slicing up the Fugue defense, on the way to a Fever goals.

After finishing third at the 2013 College Championships, Fever was able to take down the defending champions in their home state this year. Throughout the tournament, Fever steamrolled their opponents on their quest for the title that evaded them in 2013. With basically a home crowd behind them, Fever was able to pull off the final victory of the 2014 Division I women's college season and make the short trip back up the road to Columbus, Ohio, as the 2014 college champions.
