New USA Ultimate Coaching Opportunities

USA Ultimate is proud to announce several exciting opportunities for USA Ultimate Coaches:

USA Ultimate Coaching Committee
The committee will have the unique opportunity to directly contribute to the continued development of USA Ultimate’s coaching programs and the coaching of Ultimate in general. This new committee will have a wide variety of responsibilities including:
- Reviewing applications for and making a recommendation for the coaches of the 2013 U23 national teams and the 2013 World Games Team
- Reviewing applications for and making recommendations for selection of future national team coaches
- Promotion and Advancement of USA Ultimate’s Coaching Programs and Coach Development Program
- Assisting in the development and implementation of the USA Ultimate Coaching Program
- Reviews and may make initial determinations regarding violations of the Coaching Code of Ethics
The committee will be selected based on an application process overseen by Mike Lovinguth, Manager of Education and Youth Programs.

Head Coaching Searches: WFDF 2013 Under 23 Ultimate Championships
The WFDF 2013 Under 23 Ultimate Championships will be held in Toronto Canada July 22-28, 2013 and USA Ultimate will be sending teams to compete for the first time. USA Ultimate is looking for coaches for both the Open and Women’s teams. Coaches will be responsible for selecting and leading the U-23 Open or Women’s team during the event. Coach applications will be reviewed by the Coaching Committee for recommendation to USA Ultimate staff who will then make the final selections. These coaches must:
- Be USAU Level II Certified (or be willing to obtain Level II certification prior to the event)
- Have passed (obtain a green light) a NCSI background check
- Be a current USAU member
- Be able to attend 2 tryout camps to be held in January and February 2013
- Be able to attend a week of training camp prior to the event (approximately July 15-21, 2013)
- Be able to attend the WFDF U-23 event to be held July 22-28, 2013 in Toronto, Canada
Coaches will be selected based on a combination of coaching experience, ability and willingness to work with USAU staff, ability to work with players of all ages, and experience with international competition.
Coaches will have the unique opportunity to work with some of the best players in the country to form what we hope are two gold medal teams. Coaches will also have the opportunity to contribute on a larger scale by participation in USA Ultimate’s STAR program in the fall at USA Ultimate STAR events.
Applications will be accepted through 5pm MT on Wednesday August 1st, 2012. The coaching committee will review applications and contact potential coaches with a second round of questions. USA Ultimate hopes to have coaches selected and announced by August 25th, 2012.
*** UPDATE 8/29/12 -- USA Ultimate board decided that in addition to the Open and Womens’ divisions at the WFDF U-23 International Championships that Team USA will also be participating in the Mixed Division. Head Coach selections have been re-opened immediately to give opportunity to coaches to apply to this position.

The 2013 World Games will be held in Cali, Colombia July 25-Aug 4, 2013. USA Ultimate is looking for a head coach for Team USA. Coaches will be responsible for selecting and leading the team during the event. Coach applications will be reviewed by the Coaching Committee for recommendation to USA Ultimate staff who will then make the final selections. These coaches must:
