Illinois Youth Ultimate Joins the USA Ultimate Affiliate Program

Colorado Springs, Colo. (Feb. 17, 2016) – USA Ultimate, the national governing body for the sport of ultimate in the United States and member of the U.S. Olympic Committee, is excited to announce official affiliation with Illinois Youth Ultimate (IYU), making the league the most recent addition to USA Ultimate’s Affiliate Program.
Illinois Youth Ultimate is based in Naperville, Ill., and works to develop youth ultimate in the Chicago area, with goals to grow the sport in other regions of the state. IYU hosts multiple youth leagues and tournaments throughout the year and has sent multiple teams to the Youth Club Championships in each of the last several years.

USA Ultimate’s League Affiliate Program represents a significant component of the organization’s six-year strategic plan, which places an emphasis on growing youth, college and league ultimate.
Among the benefits offered to USA Ultimate-affiliated leagues are various materials and programs that assist with education, instruction and training initiatives, as well as several streams of financial support. Affiliated leagues receive access to USA Ultimate’s Learn to Play Program, as well as curricula designed for physical education in a classroom setting, coaching education and observer certification. USA Ultimate also assists its affiliated leagues with the facilitation of community recreation programs, youth camps and college program outreach.
Financial resources are available to USA Ultimate-affiliated leagues in the form of grants, discounts and rebate dollars, while leagues can also benefit from an insurance program covering events, players, directors and officers.
USA Ultimate maintains a close programmatic and strategic relationship with its affiliates, but each league remains a separate and distinct entity that exists to serve its constituents, elects a board of directors and manages affairs under its own set of bylaws.
Altitude Youth Ultimate joins 15 other local leagues as official USA Ultimate Affiliates: Albany Ultimate Disc Association, Altitude Youth Ultimate, Atlanta Flying Disc Club Juniors, Columbus Ultimate Disc Association, Connecticut Ultimate Club, DiscNY, Indiana Ultimate Federation, Jacksonville Ultimate League, Maine Ultimate, Minnesota Youth Ultimate, Missoula Ultimate Federation, Neuqua Valley Ultimate, Triangle Flying Disc Association, Ultimate Players League of Austin and Valley Ultimate. As part of the agreement, these leagues will receive additional resources and support from USA Ultimate designed to assist with the expansion and promotion of grassroots programs and serve local players.
