Hurricanes Sweep Through Easterns

The Amherst Regional High School Hurricanes dominated the competition this weekend at the 2010 UPA High School Championships. Amherst brought home the gold in the Girl's Division and the Open Division.

In the Girl's Division Amherst defeated YHB 13-0. The Hurricanes gave up only nine points in seven games over the weekend.In the Open Division in-state rival Needham High School fell to the Hurricanes 13-1. The Amherst seniors clamied their first Easterns Championship to go out on top.

James Madison Memorial High School captured the Team Spirit Award in the Girl's Division while on the open side Amherst showed that spirit and exceptional play are not mutally exclusive. The Hurricanes received a perfect 5.0 from their competition enroute to winning he Open Division Spirit Award.

The UPA would like to thank all the players, coaches, chapeones, and parents who made the trip to Buffalo this weekend. A special thanks goes out to tournament director Kevin Jacobs and his great group of volunteers from Lake Effect Ultimate, Pete Harvey and Jay Josker, and the Village of Hamburg.
