As a coach, Ghesquiere led San Francisco Revolver to a world championship last summer in Sakai, Japan and a national title in the Club division in 2011. He’s also coached the University of California – Berkeley’s men’s Ultimate team from 2005-12 and the women’s program in 2008. Ghesquiere began playing Ultimate at Sidwell Friends High School in Washington in 1993 and played collegiate Ultimate at Dartmouth from 1996-2000. At the highest level of the sport, Ghesquiere played for San Francisco Jam, San Francisco Revolver and Boston Death or Glory and won both a world and national championship in 2010 with Revolver.

Assistant Coach Matty Tsang is the most successful coach in the history of women’s Club Ultimate, having coached San Francisco Fury to seven consecutive national titles (2006-12) and two world titles in 2008 and 2010. Like Ghesquiere, Tsang coached at UC-Berkeley, leading the women’s squad from 1997-2005. Tsang also coaches at Willard Middle School in Berkeley and is the Director of Coaching for the Bay Area Disc Youth Club Championship teams.

"The pool of potential coaches from which to select the leadership for Team USA at the World Games ensured us that we would have outstanding coaches at the helm," commented USA Ultimate Athlete and Competition Programs Manager Byron Hicks.  "Alex and Matty are two of the most successful and highly regarded coaches in the sport of Ultimate and we’re confident that under their direction Team USA will be poised to make another run at a World Games title.
