Colorado Springs, Colo. (May 8, 2015) – USA Ultimate, the national governing body for the sport of ultimate in the United States, announced today the hiring of a new team member in the membership and sport development department.

Leah Dolan-Kelley was named the new Manager – Event Sanctioning and will oversee USA Ultimate’s event sanctioning program, working with event directors throughout the application process, planning and execution of sanctioned events. Her responsibilities will include overseeing the application process; advising event directors on how to manage and run a USA Ultimate event; collecting rosters, waivers and other materials from event directors; assisting with the collection and processing of accurate results; and other duties related to the event sanctioning program and membership and sport development department.

"Ultimate is a passion of mine because of the community, spirit and ingenuity of ultimate players and the passion that everyone shares for this sport," said Dolan-Kelley. "I am thrilled to work behind the scenes and on the sideline with USA Ultimate to help the organization, as well as the sport of ultimate, grow and succeed for everyone involved. USA Ultimate is a very spirited and passionate organization, and I'm looking forward to working with this team to progress the sport of ultimate."

Dolan-Kelley holds a degree in Writing for Television and Film from Emerson College in Boston. Professionally, she has worked for several television studios in the Los Angeles area as an assistant coordinator, story assistant and human resources assistant. Currently, she works as an administrative assistant with Goldberg Swedelson & Associates, a pension and profit sharing consulting firm in Encino, Calif.

Dolan-Kelley began playing ultimate after moving to Los Angeles and quickly took on an organizational role in the local ultimate community, coaching youth teams and assisting in running local tournaments. Her organizational and project management skills, in addition to her experience in the ultimate community will help Dolan-Kelley make a smooth transition into her new role.

"We are so pleased to welcome Leah to USA Ultimate," said Director of Membership and Sport Development Melanie Byrd. "Leah brings a wide range of experience having spent time as a story assistant for reality TV, events crew member with Clif Bar, coach for youth basketball and as an ultimate player and assistant tournament director in her Los Angeles community. With her strong skills and passion for the sport, Leah will be a great asset to our sanctioned events team."

Dolan-Kelley will join the USA Ultimate headquarters team in Colorado Springs in mid-May, after relocating from Los Angeles.
