Dates and Locations Announced for 2015 Northeastern and Central Championships

Boulder, Colo. (Sept. 16, 2014) – USA Ultimate, the national governing body for the sport of ultimate in the United States, announced today that Portland, Maine, will host the 2015 High School Northeastern Championships, and Ames, Iowa, will host the 2015 High School Central Championships. Both sites were also the locations of their respective 2014 events.

After a successful year in 2014, the 2015 Northeastern Regional Championships will return to Maine and the Wainwright Field Athletic Complex in South Portland on May 16-17. Northeasterns will be hosted by Maine Ultimate, the Greater Portland Convention & Visitors Bureau and the Maine Sports Commission.

"Maine Ultimate is excited once again to host Northeasterns at the Wainwright Complex in conjunction with the Maine Sports Commission, the Greater Portland Convention & Visitors Bureau and the city of South Portland," said Maine Ultimate President Richard Young. "We look forward to building off the success of last year and are ready to make this an even more enjoyable experience for the participants, coaches and spectators."

The Central Regional Championships will be held at Iowa State University in Ames, Iowa, for a second consecutive year in 2015. The event will be held May 16-17, and will again be hosted by the Ames Convention & Visitors Bureau, the Iowa Sports Foundation and Iowa State University’s Women Scorned.

"The Ames Convention & Visitors Bureau is excited to continue the relationship with USA Ultimate in hosting this championship in Ames for the second time," said Seann DeMaris, sports and leisure sales manager, Ames Convention & Visitors Bureau. "The opportunity to build off the success of last year’s tournament and showcase the growth of the sport in central Iowa makes this a win-win for our area and the clubs involved."

"The ISU Woman's Ultimate Club is very excited to be bringing this event back for another year," added Camille Nelson, president of Women Scorned, Iowa State University’s women’s ultimate team. "We are excited to share our ultimate home with high school teams from across the region."

As previously announced, the 2015 High School Southern Championships will be held in Winston-Salem, N.C., May 9-10, and the 2015 Western Championships will again be held in Corvallis, Ore., May 30-31.
