Corvallis, Philadelphia area set to host 2011 High School Champ's

Boulder, Colo. (October 14, 2010)—USA Ultimate announced today dates, locations and host organizations for its two High School Championship events in 2011.
Hosted by the Northwest Ultimate Disc Association (
DiscNW), the 2011 USA Ultimate High School Western Championships will take place in Corvallis, Ore., May 14-15. The Crystal Lake Sports Complex will host the two-day competition, which features the best high school Ultimate teams west of the Mississippi River.
The following weekend, high school Ultimate will again take center stage, this time as the best teams in the eastern half of the U.S. converge in suburban Philadelphia for the 2011 USA Ultimate High School Eastern Championships. The Brandywine Polo Club in Kennett Square, Pa. will be the site of the event, May 21-22, and will be organized by the Philadelphia Area Disc Alliance (
PADA).
On the West Coast, The Northwest School (Seattle, Wash.) – defending champions and winner of two of the last three – will again look to qualify for the championships and repeat in the girls’ division, while perennial favorite and the 2010 champions from South Eugene High School will seek a spot in the tournament and victory on home soil in the open division.
“The Oregon Youth Ultimate scene is blossoming, and the city of Corvallis and the Crystal Lake Spots Fields are beautiful, “ commented William Bartram, Executive Director of DiscNW. “DiscNW and our partners in the Corvallis, Portland and Eugene Ultimate communities are thrilled to work with USA Ultimate in 2011 to bring this premier youth tournament back to Corvallis for the first time in seven years.”
A week later, dominant programs from Amherst Regional High School in Massachusetts will look to earn an invitation to the championships and sweep both the girls’ and open divisions again.
“The Philadelphia Area Disc Alliance is excited to host the 2011 USA Ultimate High School Eastern Championships,” said Marjorie McMahon-Naylor, Executive Director of PADA. “We’re proud of all the local PHUEL high school league teams, and want to highlight the best youth Ultimate in the Eastern United States. We hope this event will also show what a great organization PADA is and the many talents of our dedicated volunteers.”
The 2011 USA Ultimate High School Western and Eastern Championships are the first of several 2011 national events to be announced. Future announcements regarding other national events, including USA Ultimate’s College, Division III, Youth Club and Grand Masters/Masters Women’s championships, will be announced in the coming weeks and months, while the 2011 USA Ultimate Club Championships are set to return to Sarasota, Fla., Oct. 27-30.
