CORT NAMED OFFICIAL FURNITURE PARTNER OF 2012 USA ULTIMATE COLLEGE CHAMPIONSHIPS
$12,000 in Grants Awarded to Winners of D-III and College Championships by Official Sponsor
Boulder, Colo. (April 20, 2012)—CORT, a Berkshire Hathaway Company and the world’s largest provider of rental furniture, has been named an Official Sponsor of USA Ultimate and the Exclusive Furniture Partner of the 2012 USA Ultimate College Championships, the national governing body for the sport of Ultimate in the United States announced today.
In business for more than 40 years, CORT has served millions of individuals, as well as 80% of Fortune 500 companies. CORT has also grown to become the industry’s leading provider of residential and commercial rental furniture, as well as trade show and event furnishings. As the Exclusive Furniture Partner of this year’s college championships and an Official Sponsor of USA Ultimate, CORT aligns itself with the largest segment of the sport’s population – college athletes. The strategic partnership will leverage USA Ultimate’s communication and media channels, championship events and social media networks to raise awareness of CORT’s furniture solutions for students.

"CORT is extremely pleased to be an official sponsor of USA Ultimate", commented Bob Buzzell, CORT Vice President of Marketing. "We believe that Ultimate is a fast-growing and dynamic sport, one which represents a non-traditional and non-corporate athlete and fan base. Much like Ultimate, CORT student rentals represents something different, in our case a way to furnish apartments which requires no moving, no assembly, no need to search for furniture either online or abandoned in alleys, and no need to dispose of furniture after graduation. Since Ultimate is a hugely popular college sport, we felt that our sponsorship would communicate our commitment to the college student market." |
CORT’s sponsorship of USA Ultimate and the college championships will include several layers of benefits and exposure opportunities beginning next week in conjunction with USA Ultimate’s College Championship Series. CORT-branded contests for athletes and fans will run on USA Ultimate’s social media networks throughout the spring, while an integrated advertising campaign will span USA Ultimate magazine, usaultimate.org, event programs and other electronic communication initiatives. At the 2012 USA Ultimate College Championships, CORT will have a significant presence, hosting an athlete and VIP viewing area adjacent to the showcase field, hosting an on-site contest for spectators, providing athlete and participant giveaways, and branding the competition venue with signage.
Most notably, CORT will also present the winning teams of both the USA Ultimate Division III College Championships (Appleton, Wis. May 19-20) and the USA Ultimate College Championships (Boulder, Colo. May 25-28) with financial grants totaling $12,000. Open and Women’s division champions at the college championships will each receive $5,000, while the winners at the DIII championships will each receive $1,000. These grants will be awarded to the winners’ respective club sports departments with a designation to support the winning Ultimate team.
"We are thrilled to collaborate with CORT to benefit our college division in such a valuable and unprecedented way," explained Andy Lee, USA Ultimate Director of Marketing & Communications . "CORT’s presence in Boulder will greatly enhance the athlete and spectator experience and a social media campaign will serve as a fun and interesting way to engage the entire Ultimate community that follows our college championship series. The products and services they provide are a perfect match for our college demographic and we are looking forward to their support of our athletes, events and community, as well as the sport of Ultimate."
