Colorado Springs, Colo. (October 28, 2016)—Four athletes were elected as representatives of the Club Division Athletes’ Council this week by club teams who participated in this year’s Triple Crown Tour Postseason Championship Series.

In the men’s division, Andrew Francis (Atlanta Bullet) was elected with 57 percent of the vote, followed by Boston Ironside’s Jack Hatchett (24 percent) and the Santa Barbara Condors’ Grant Boyd (19 percent).

Fifty-eight of the 211 eligible men’s division teams cast a vote.

The mixed division elected two representatives – incumbent Steve Sullivan (Boston Slow White) and Raha Mozaffari (Philadelphia AMP).

Sullivan was elected with 90 percent of the vote over San Francisco Mischief’s Jacob Serrano (10 percent), while Mozaffari received 67 percent of the vote in a runoff to beat out Seattle Mixtape’s Bert Abbott (33 percent).

Of the 227 mixed teams eligible to cast a vote, 37 participated in the election.

Akina Younge (New York Bent) was elected as the women’s division representative with 69 percent of the vote over Madison Heist’s Amelia Cuarenta (27 percent) and Vancouver Traffic’s Rena Kawabata (4 percent).

Twenty-six of the 88 eligible women’s teams cast a vote.

The four elected representatives join incumbents Tyler Kinley (head coach, Michigan Hive Five) and Charlie Mercer (Seattle Riot) as the current Club Division Athletes’ Council representatives.

These six player-elected individuals represent teams and athletes playing in USA Ultimate’s club division structure and are responsible for broadening communication between USA Ultimate and active club division participants. They also serve as a collective voice for club division teams and athletes and provide valuable input, ideas and feedback to USA Ultimate.

The council representatives will convene in Colorado Springs, Dec. 3-4, as part of USA Ultimate’s annual Competition Working Group meetings.

USA Ultimate would like to thank all of the candidates for running, as well as the teams who voted and the current council representatives for administering the election.
