CCC LXI Recap

CCC LXI happened this past weekend in Conyers, Georgia. The weather was beautiful, and lots of great games happened all weekend in both divisions. Teams from as far away as Austin, Ann Arbor, and Pittsburgh made the trek to the tournament, and a number of Southeast teams also competed in the event.

On the open side, Pittsburgh brought home the title with a 15-7 win over Florida. They went largely unchallenged over the course of the weekend with no team scoring double digits on them.

On the women's side, Michigan went home victorious with a 15-12 win over UNC-Chapel Hill. They rallied back from a large half-time deficit to cap off their fall season with a win. Michigan, last year's USA Ultimate College Championships runner-up, returns assist leader Paula Seville and a number of other veteran players including Kelsey DeLave and Vicky Chang. While Michigan had an impressive weekend, perhaps the story of the tournament was University of Central Florida's third place finish, including wins over UNC-Wilmington, Texas, and Georgia.

The College STAR Program clinics were an enormous success, with hundreds of players participating. Special thanks to coaches Jolian Dahl, Ben Spears, Mike Arenson, Greg Swanson, Chip Ogburn, Tim Morrill, Kate Wilson, Kirsten Shell, Angela Lin, Michelle VanHandel, and Keely Dinse for their time and commitment to making the clinic happen. Also, a very special thank you to Courtney Farrell, Charlie Herrig, and Caleb Edwards of the University of Georgia Ultimate Program for all of their hard work toward creating an awesome weekend for teams.
