Colorado Springs, Colo. (July 12, 2017) – USA Ultimate announced today the complete ESPN broadcast schedule of semifinal and championship games for its three major Triple Crown Tour tournaments in 2017 – the U.S. Open Club Championships, the USA Ultimate Pro Championships and the USA Ultimate National Championships.
As previously announced, ESPN will cover 17 club division games live this year on a combination of linear and digital platforms, including ESPN2 and streaming live on the ESPN app.
The U.S. Open Club Championships serve as the first leg of the Triple Crown and take place Aug. 4-6 at the National Sports Center in Blaine, Minn. Notable highlights of the ESPN broadcast schedule include a Saturday evening women’s division doubleheader, featuring both semifinal matchups live on the ESPN app at 4:30 and 7:00 p.m. CDT. The following day, USA Ultimate’s club division makes its linear network television debut as the mixed division final airs live, in prime time, on ESPN2 at 6:00 p.m. CDT.
All totaled at the U.S. Open, ESPN will cover seven games, including both women’s semifinals and championship match, as well as one semifinal and the championship game from each of the men’s and mixed divisions.
The USA Ultimate Pro Championships occur Sept. 2-4 in Seattle, with the finals taking place at the Southwest Athletic Complex where ESPN will stream live all three championship games.
The club season concludes with the USA Ultimate National Championships, Oct. 19-22 at the Premier Sports Campus in Lakewood Ranch, Fla. where ESPN will again stream live seven games. The broadcast schedule includes a mixed division semifinal doubleheader on Saturday evening, plus one semifinal from each of the men’s and women’s divisions and all three championship games.
"We are excited to have a partner like ESPN to continue a long tradition of showcasing the top teams and phenomenal athletes competing in the Triple Crown Tour," commented Tom Crawford, USA Ultimate Chief Executive Officer. "This accessible and high-quality coverage, which is geared towards serious ultimate fans and casual sports fans alike, showcases our mixed, women’s and men’s teams like never before and gives them the kind of exposure they deserve as world-class athletes in their chosen sport."
