2017 Board of Directors Election Timeline and Call for Candidates

Colorado Springs, Colo. (Sept. 15, 2016)—USA Ultimate is currently seeking potential candidates interested in pursuing one of two elected seats on the 2017 USA Ultimate Board of Directors.
This fall, there is one At-Large seat and one Elite Athlete seat up for election.
The nominating committee is now accepting formal Expressions of Interest for eligible USA Ultimate members interested in running for one of these two seats.

Interested members who meet the eligibility requirements should send a brief letter of intent to nominating committee chair Henry Thorne at

5:00 p.m. EDT Friday, Sept. 30:

Following this initial application process, the nominating committee will send any interested members documentation outlining the requirements and expectations for serving on the USA Ultimate Board of Directors. This allows potential candidates to evaluate the necessary commitments and responsibilities.
Once interested individuals have agreed to meet these requirements and expectations, the nominating committee will review the applicants and develop a final list of candidates based on expertise, qualifications, potential conflicts of interest and other potential disqualifying factors.
Candidates invited to be included on the official ballot will then be required to draft and submit a formal candidate statement.
The comprehensive timeline for the 2017 USA Ultimate Board of Directors election is as follows:
Friday, Sept. 30 (5:00 p.m. EDT): All individuals interested in running for a seat on the 2017 USA Ultimate Board of Directors must submit a formal Expression of Interest including the aforementioned items to nominating committee chair Henry Thorne at
henry.thorne@usaultimate.org.
Friday, Oct. 7 (5:00 p.m. EDT): Approved candidates must submit a formal candidate statement to nominating committee chair Henry Thorne at
henry.thorne@hq.usaultimate.org.
Monday, Oct. 31: Approved candidates are encouraged to conduct an AMA on the ultimate subreddit,
www.reddit.com/r/ultimate, in order to engage with members of USA Ultimate and answer questions.
Monday, Oct. 31: (9:00 p.m. EDT): Election begins. Vote by logging into your USA Ultimate member account at
play.usaultimate.org/members/ and click the Voting box.
Friday, Nov. 4: (7:00 p.m. EDT): Election concludes.
