Colorado Springs, Colo. (Feb. 19, 2015) – USA Ultimate is pleased to announce that the registration window for the 2015 Youth Club Championships (YCC) is now open. Last year, in the event’s biggest year ever, 62 teams accounting for more than 1,200 athletes from 25 different communities competed at YCC. This year, growth is expected to continue as USA Ultimate constantly works to ensure competitive, championship-level playing opportunities are available for all youth ultimate players.

This year’s Youth Club Championships will again feature five competition divisions: U-19 boys, U-19 girls, U-19 mixed, U-16 boys and U-16 girls. In order to foster growth in the U-16 girls' division, like at the 2014 event, the division will be a unique combination of camp and competition that will be open to both team registrants and individual registrants.

Phase 1 applications are due Monday, March 2, by 5pm MT. Bids will be awarded according to the team selection process outlined in the youth division guidelines on Friday, March 6. Phase 2 applications are due Monday, May 11, 2015, by 5pm MT. Phase 2 bids will be awarded on May 29.

Multiple bid deadlines were established to accommodate leagues and teams that want to know early in the year how many bids they will receive and in which division(s). Recognizing that not all leagues are ready to bid early, Phase 2 was created to fill any vacant bids after Phase 1 and provide a second opportunity for new leagues and teams to apply. For more information on the YCC application process, deadlines and bid allocations, please review the youth division competition guidelines.

As part of the lead up to the 2016 WFDF World Junior Ultimate Championships, USA Ultimate will again host a one day National Team Talent ID Camp with national team coaching staff on Monday, Aug. 10. The ID camp is open to all YCC participants. Camp registration and additional details will be available in the coming weeks.

The Youth Club Championships are held annually to provide national-level competition for youth ultimate players and encourage local, non-high-school based playing opportunities for youth within the USA Ultimate structure.

For the first time, this year’s Youth Club Championships will take place over three days, Aug. 7-9, 2015, at the event's perennial home at the National Sports Center in Blaine, Minn., with Minnesota Youth Ultimate serving as the local organizing committee.
