USA Ultimate

Boulder, Colo. (Sept. 8, 2014) – USA Ultimate, the national governing body for the sport of ultimate in the United States, is pleased to announced the athletes selected to represent the U.S. at the 2015 World Championships of Beach Ultimate. More than 100 athletes across seven teams will make the trip from the U.S. to Dubai, United Arab Emirates, next March to compete against teams from all around the world.

At the 2011 World Championships of Beach Ultimate (WCBU), the United States earned five gold medals and one silver medal: gold medals in the mixed, open, women’s, masters and grandmasters divisions, and silver in the mixed masters division. For the first time at WCBU, next year’s event will also include a women’s masters division.

The event will be jointly hosted by the World Flying Disc Federation and the Beach Ultimate Lovers Association, with United Arabian Ultimate serving as the local organizing committee. More than 1,000 athletes, representing more than 30 countries, are expected to compete at next year’s tournament.

More than 500 athletes applied for consideration to represent the U.S. on one of the seven Beach National Teams, more than double the number of applicants for WCBU 2011. The team managers, announced earlier this summer, selected the rosters and presented them for approval to the selection committee.
