Colorado Springs, Colo. (March 2, 2015) – The 2015 Triple Crown Tour season guidelines are now available on the USA Ultimate website.

The latest guidelines provide more detail on many changes made for the 2015 season that were previously announced as part of the 2014 Competition Working Group recap for the club division. These changes were made after careful consideration and collaboration with members of the competition working group as well as the ultimate community at-large. Changes for the 2015 season include:

  • a timeline shift for regular-season and post-season events;

  • consolidation of sectional and regional event schedules;

  • changes to the bid allocation schedule;

  • expansion of the U.S. Open Championships competition field;

  • expansion of the Pro Flight Finale field with teams earning bids at the Elite-Select Challenge;

  • a new definition of winning the Triple Crown;

  • a new select-flight event; and

  • updated uniform requirements.

Roster requirements for Pro, Elite and Top Select teams have also been altered. These teams will be allowed to roster 30 athletes throughout the course of the season but will still need to honor the event roster limit of 27 athletes. In addition, these teams will be allowed to add only three new athletes, athletes who did not compete with the team during the regular season, to their post-season roster.

See the Triple Crown Tour guidelines for more information on all changes made for the 2015 season.

The Triple Crown Tour represents the highest level of competitive ultimate in North America and features teams in three divisions: men’s, mixed and women’s. Teams are split across four tiered flights: Pro, Elite, Select and Classic.

The regular season consists of a series of summer USA Ultimate sanctioned tournaments, including featured events like the U.S. Open Championship and Flight-specific events.  The post-season narrows over 700 teams down to 16 in each division to compete for National Championships.

USA Ultimate is awaiting final field confirmation and paperwork from some host candidates before it can formally announce the dates and locations of the remaining major events on the 2015 Triple Crown Tour, including the Pro Flight Finale, Pro-Elite Challenge, Elite-Select Challenge and Select Flight Invite.
