Colorado Spring, Colo. (April 13, 2015) – USA Ultimate, the national governing body for the sport of ultimate in the United States, announced today the teams committed to competing in four premier 2015 Triple Crown Tour (TCT) events. Commitments have been received and the competition fields solidified for the U.S. Open Championships, Pro-Elite Challenge, Elite-Select Challenge and Pro Flight Finale. Final team commitments for the new Select Flight Invite will be announced in the coming weeks.

After receiving strong bids from cities across the country, the 2015 Triple Crown Tour will make stops in several of the most passionate ultimate communities in the nation. With teams already committed to their regular-season schedules early in the year, event organizers can focus on creating the best tournaments possible. Teams also have the opportunity to fully prepare and plan for their seasons, knowing who their competition will be and guaranteeing a high level of competition at each event.

The Triple Crown Tour represents the highest level of competitive ultimate in the world and consists of two major events – the U.S. Open and the National Championships - with flight-specific events filling out the regular season. Prize money totaling more than $30,000 is on the line for winners of the Tour's premier events, the flight-level challenges, and any team that can claim titles from the three major TCT legs - the U.S. Open, Pro Flight Finale and National Championships - to win the Triple Crown.

Prize Money Breakdown:

• U.S. Open Champions: $2,000

  • U.S. Open Second Place: $1,000

• National Champions: $2,000

  • National Championships Second Place: $1,000

• Pro Flight Finale Champions: $1,500

  • Pro Flight Finale Second Place: $500

• Pro-Elite Challenge Champions: $750

• Elite-Select Challenge Champions: $500

• Triple Crown Bonus: $2,000

New in 2015 is prize money for second-place finishers at the U.S. Open Championships and National Championships. Also, as previously announced, the second leg of the 2015 Triple Crown will be the Pro Flight Finale, a departure from the regular-season title acting as the second leg in years past.

USA Ultimate’s media partners will provide extensive coverage of the 2015 Triple Crown Tour which is set to kick off at the 2015 U.S. Open Championships and Convention where the United States’ best teams take on competition from around the world July 2-5, just outside Cincinnati in West Chester, Ohio.
