2015 Triple Crown Tour Event Dates and Locations

Colorado Springs, Colo. (March 9, 2015) – USA Ultimate, the national governing body for the sport of ultimate in the United States is excited to officially announce all the dates, locations, venues and host organizations for this year’s Triple Crown Tour flight-specific events.

The Triple Crown Tour represents the highest level of competitive ultimate in the world and consists of two major events and four flight-specific events. More than $25,000 in total prize money is on the line for winners of the three individual elements of the Tour – the U.S. Open Championships, Pro Flight Finale and National Championships – as well as for any team that can claim all three titles to win the Triple Crown.

This year’s Elite-Select Challenge will be hosted by Rodger Oakes and Oshadega, LLC. Teams from the second and third tiers of all three divisions – men’s, women’s and mixed – will meet at Spindler Road Park in Hilliard, Ohio, just outside Columbus, on July 11-12.

"Oshadega is excited to be bringing another high-level tournament to the Central Ohio area," said tournament director and Oshadega, LLC founder Rodger Oakes. "We are partnering up with the Columbus Sports Commission and local ultimate community to provide a great experience for all the players and fans."

3xCrownProFlightLogo 500x500 3xCrownEliteFlightLogo 500x500 PRO–ELITE CHALLENGE – AURORA, CO – AUGUST 1-2

On Aug. 1-2, the Triple Crown Tour’s Pro and Elite teams will face off at Colorado Cup, this year’s Pro-Elite Challenge. The Aurora Sports Park in Aurora, Colo., will play host to the top two tiers of teams, teams that participated at the 2014 National Championships, in all three divisions: men’s, mixed and women’s. The event will be organized by elite women’s team Denver Molly Brown and Visit Aurora.

"We are excited for the opportunity to host another Triple Crown Tour event and to bring the nation’s top talent to Colorado Cup as we continue working to make it a premier event for the local and national ultimate community," said tournament director Lauren Boyle.

3xCrownSelectFlightLogo 500x500 SELECT FLIGHT INVITE – LITTLE ROCK, AR – AUGUST 15-16

New in 2015, the Select Flight Invite was added to the Triple Crown Tour season in response to input from the club division’s competition working group and the community at large. The event provides additional quality competition for the Select Flight’s top teams. Sixteen teams each in the men’s, mixed and women’s divisions that earned top select status during the 2014 season will meet at Burns Regional Park in Little Rock, Ark., to face off in this inaugural event. The Select Flight Invite will be hosted by the Fayetteville Disc Association and Little Rock Disc Association.

"The Fayetteville and Little Rock Disc Associations are excited for the opportunity to host the first Select Flight Invite in North Little Rock's beautiful Burns Regional Park," said South Central Men’s Sectional Coordinator Karl Doege. "Our lush, shaded fields are some of the best you'll find anywhere, and we know that we'll be able to provide an excellent environment for this event."

3xCrownProFlightLogo 500x500 PRO FLIGHT FINALE – BLAINE, MN – AUGUST 22-23

The regular season will conclude August 22-23 at the National Sports Center in Blaine, Minn., with the Pro Flight Finale. Hosted by Minnesota Youth Ultimate, the Pro Flight Finale serves as the second leg of the Triple Crown Tour and features the top eight teams in each division from the 2014 National Championships.

"Minnesota Youth Ultimate is thrilled to bring another Triple Crown Tour event to the Twin Cities in 2015," said Minnesota Youth Ultimate Program Director     Jake McKean. "With a robust youth program, extremely successful adult league and elite club teams in every division, Minnesota is positioning itself as one of the great ultimate hubs in the nation. We are excited to host the best teams from across the country for the culminating regular-season tournament, share our love for this sport and showcase the tremendous community here in Minnesota."

"We are excited for the opportunity to host another major ultimate event and to be part of the growth of the sport," added Santiago Escobar, who will serve as the Pro Flight Finale tournament director. "We are fortunate to have the support of Minnesota's welcoming community, as well as access to some of the best facilities in the country. With these resources, we can create an event that will be enjoyable for athletes, families and fans."

SELECT FLIGHT TOURNAMENTS

In addition to the flight-specific events mentioned above, a number of Select Flight-focused playing opportunities will be identified and promoted for the 2015 regular season.

As announced earlier this year, the 2015 U.S. Open Championships will be held July 2-5, at Voice of America Park in West Chester, Ohio, hosted by USA Ultimate, the Cincinnati Ultimate Players Association and the Butler County Visitors Bureau.

The 2015 National Championships will return once again to the Toyota Soccer Center at FC Dallas in Frisco, Texas. The event will be held Oct. 1-4, and will again be hosted by the Dallas Ultimate Association and the Frisco Convention and Visitors Bureau, in conjunction with USA Ultimate.
