Columbus Ultimate Disc Association to host 32 teams at the Westerville Sports Complex
Boulder, Colo. (December 26, 2013)—The 2014 USA Ultimate Division III College Championships will take place May 17-18 in Westerville, Ohio, the national governing body for the sport of ultimate in the United States announced today.
The two-day event will be held at the Westerville Sports Complex, located 20 miles north of Columbus, and co-hosted by the Columbus Ultimate Disc Association (CUDA) and Oshadega, LLC.
The USA Ultimate Division III College Championships will crown a national champion in the men’s and women’s divisions and represents the culmination of the college ultimate season for schools with enrollment of less than 7,500 students. The event takes its traditional spot on the calendar, occurring the weekend before the USA Ultimate College Championships, scheduled for May 23-26 in nearby Cincinnati.
"On behalf of the Columbus Ultimate Disc Association and Oshadega, we are honored that USA Ultimate has allowed us to bring the Division III College Championships to Columbus (Westerville)," said tournament director Rodger Oakes. "We’re excited to showcase the great city of Westerville and our Midwest hospitality to provide an exciting event for all the athletes, friends and families. This will be our fourth College Championships since 2006, and our volunteers are motivated to make it the best yet."
CUDA also served as the host of the USA Ultimate College Championships in 2006, 2007 and 2009.
More than 800 student-athletes from 32 teams will attend next year’s championships. The 2013 event was won by Middlebury College (Vermont) in the men’s division and Bowdoin College (Brunswick, Maine) in the women’s division.
