Boulder, Colo. (Nov. 25, 2013) – USA Ultimate, the national governing body for the sport of ultimate in the United States, announced today that the 2014 Division I College Championships will take place in Mason, Ohio, located just north of Cincinnati, May 23-26.

The event will be held Friday through Monday at Heritage Oak Park and Mason High School and hosted by the Cincinnati Ultimate Players Association (CUPA) and Warren County Convention & Visitors Bureau. Pool play and the initial rounds of bracket play will take place at Heritage Oak Park with semifinal and final rounds to follow on Sunday afternoon and Monday at the 6,800-seat Mason High School Atrium Stadium.

As part of USA Ultimate’s ongoing relationship with ESPN, the Worldwide Leader in Sports will again broadcast semifinal and final action in both divisions from the College Championships live on ESPN3 with follow-up coverage to air on ESPNU in the ensuing week.

"We take great honor in welcoming USA Ultimate’s Division I 2014 College Championships to Cincinnati (Mason), Ohio," said Dale Wilker, who will serve as tournament director on behalf of CUPA. "The Cincinnati Ultimate Players Association and its volunteer base will raise the bar in hosting a smoothly run, well-organized, and fan-friendly experience for all involved – we would like this championship event to be a wonderful lifelong memory for all. This event will fuel the growth of ultimate in our community for many area players and fans at all levels."

Each year, the College Championships crown national champions in the men’s and women’s divisions. After the conclusion of the regular season, over 14,000 college athletes across more than 700 teams will enter the USA Ultimate Championship Series, all competing for a chance to be in the field of 20 men’s and 20 women’s teams at the College Championships on Memorial Day weekend.

CUPA has a long history of hosting USA Ultimate championship events, including the 2013 High School Central Championships, also held at Heritage Oak Park, and the 2011 Grand Masters and Women’s Masters National Championships. The 2007 and 2009 High School Eastern Championships were also organized by the Cincinnati Ultimate Players Association.

The dates and location of the 2014 Division III College Championships will be announced shortly. Stay tuned to usaultimate.org for updates.
