Boulder, Colo. (April 8, 2014) – USA Ultimate, the national governing body for the sport of ultimate, announced today the teams committed to competing in its four premier 2014 Triple Crown Tour events. Commitments have been received and the competition fields solidified for the U.S. Open Championships, Pro-Elite Challenge, Elite-Select Challenge and Pro Flight Finale.

After receiving strong bids from cities across the country, the 2014 Triple Crown Tour includes stops in several of the biggest and most passionate ultimate communities in the nation. With teams already committed to their regular-season schedules early in the year, event organizers can focus on creating the best tournaments possible. Teams also have the opportunity to fully prepare and plan for their seasons with a guaranteed high level of competition at each event and knowing who their competition will be.

Athletes in three all three divisions – men’s, women’s and mixed – will travel from California, Texas, North Carolina, Washington, Canada and everywhere in between to play the best teams North America has to offer.

The Triple Crown Tour represents the highest level of competitive ultimate in the world and consists of two major events – the U.S. Open and the National Championships – and a regular-season rankings formula. Prize money totaling more than $30,000 is on the line for winners of the Tour's premier events, the flight-level challenges, and any team that can claim all three titles to win the Triple Crown.

Prize Money Breakdown:

• U.S. Open Champions: $2,000

• Regular Season Champions: $2,000

• National Champions: $2,000

• Triple Crown Winner Bonus: $2,000

• Pro Flight Finale Champions: $1,000

• Pro-Elite Challenge Champions: $750

• Elite-Select Challenge Champions: $500

USA Ultimate’s media partners, ESPN and NexGen, will provide an unprecedented amount of comprehensive coverage of the 2014 Triple Crown Tour. The second annual Tour will kick off at the 2014 U.S. Open Championships and Convention when the United States’ best teams take on competition from around the world July 3-6, in Minnesota’s Twin Cities.
