Boulder, Colo. (January 28, 2014) – USA Ultimate, the national governing body for the sport of ultimate in the United States, released today the 2014 masters division competition guidelines. The guidelines include the redrawing of the division’s regional boundaries to align with the current regions used in the men’s, mixed and women’s club divisions. These new regions will be in effect for the 2014 season.

The changes come after extended discussions with members of the masters ultimate community, the masters competition working group and the National Masters Director. The move from six regions to the eights regions used in the club division will help inspire local growth and development across the division by encouraging more inviting competition opportunities for teams and athletes across smaller geographic areas.

"Changing the master's division boundaries will allow us to once again mirror those of the existing club season. Adding the two extra regions will allow us to have shorter travel times to regional competitions and should also promote growth by providing the opportunity to spread the bid allocations all across the country," explains National Masters Director Kyle Christoph. "We look forward to increased growth in all three of the masters divisions as we continue to provide highly competitive playing opportunities to a greater age range of the USA Ultimate community."

This year’s masters division regionals will take place June 14-15, June 21-22 and June 28-29. The Masters Championships will be held July 18-20 in Sarasota, Fla.
