Boulder, Colo. (Sept. 26, 2013) – The postseason of the inaugural USA Ultimate Triple Crown Tour is underway. Nineteen of the 48 spots at the 2013 National Championships were claimed last weekend in the first round of regional championships. The regular-season champions in each division will take the field in their respective regional championships this weekend to defend their titles and contend for their spots in Frisco, Texas.

Regular-Season Champions

  • Men’s Division: San Francisco Revolver
  • Mixed Division: Philadelphia AMP
  • Women’s Division: San Francisco Fury

"AMP was honored to be the first regular-season champion in the mixed division, but we remain most excited for the tests ahead," said captain Kevin McCormick. "The inaugural Triple Crown Tour regular season showed the tight margins between the top teams, and there will be some thrilling match ups to finish the season in Texas. We haven't looked past Mid-Atlantic Regionals though; we are looking forward to the challenges ahead and continuing to represent Philadelphia ultimate."

Each regular-season champion received $2,000 in prize money from USA Ultimate. Prize money was also awarded at each of the Triple Crown Tour events and will be presented to the national champion in each division at the Club Championships in Texas.

With Montreal’s Odyssée taking home the U.S. Open Championship in the mixed division earlier this year and AMP winning the regular-season title, there won’t be a Triple Crown winner in the mixed division in 2013. But after winning their respective divisions at the U.S. Open Championships and now having clinched regular-season titles, both Revolver and Fury have claimed the first two legs of the Triple Crown Tour. If they can win national championships in Frisco next month, they will have successfully claimed the inaugural Triple Crown and a bonus cash prize.

"Our approach to the 2013 was not to necessarily win the regular-season title," said Revolver captain Ryo Kawaoka. "Winning the U.S. Open was a significant milestone, and we knew that if we continued to progress and grow as a team, the regular-season title would be achievable. The competition throughout the season was fierce, and we are excited to see how this has prepared us for the championship series."
