Kennett Square, PA -- Stones were few and far between at Walker Field near the Brandywine Polo Club outside of Philadelphia on Sunday, as Goliath marched to the USA Ultimate High School Eastern Championships title unscathed once again.

Amherst’s storied program added another trophy to its ever-expanding case after defeating Holy Family Catholic in the championship game, 13-6.

While the Hurricanes remained the class of one of the most prestigious high-school Ultimate tournaments in the country, Holy Family Catholic, a team comprised of home-schooled students from the Cincinnati, OH area, had one of the most exciting paths to the finals it could take.

Holy Family was the top seed in Pool D entering Easterns, but a 10-9 universe-point loss to the University School of Nashville in the last game on Saturday bumped it to the cross-over round.

Holy Family dispatched Neuqua Valley 13-6 to advance to the championship bracket against YHB. After another convincing win, Holy Family squared off in an epic battle against Columbia.

Columbia defeated Radnor, 13-6, in its quarterfinal, but found itself in a nip-and-tuck affair with Holy Family. With Columbia leading 11-10 and with hard cap being enforced at the end of the point, Holy Family scored to tie the game at 11-11. After both teams had several chances to score the game-winner, it was Holy Family that secured universe point to advance to the finals.

Meanwhile, The University School of Nashville held off a Needham rally to emerge victorious in a 12-10 affair to reach the semifinals against Amherst.  The Hurricanes proved to be too much in the final, however, overwhelming Holy Family 13-6.

In the fifth-place games, Radnor outlasted YHB, 13-10, while Memorial, which lost to Amherst in the quarterfinal, defeated Needham, 13-7.
