2008 SOCKEYE INVITE
|
|
Just outside of Seattle, in Monroe, Washington, a handful of the world's top Open teams gathered for the first major ultimate tournament on the West Coast this past weekend.
The Sockeye Invite served as a replacement tournament for the Open Division at the Emerald City Classic, as it was bumped due to the WFDF World Ultimate and Guts Championships being held this August in Vancouver, British Columbia.
Seven teams participated this weekend—six from the Pacific-side of the continent, and one from the Atlantic-side (PoNY made the trip all the way from New York City). For Seattle Sockeye and Vancouver Furious George, the 2008 Invite acted as a tune-up for World's.
We are going to take a look at the different offenses and defenses each of these teams employed; what worked, what didn't; which strategies were successful and why.
Photos, of course, are by Scobel Wiggins.
