Three Teams Added To Girls’ Team Startup Project

Colorado Springs, Colo. (Feb. 10, 2020) – USA Ultimate is excited to announce the recipients of the 2020 Girls’ Team Startup Project grants. Sponsored by the Ultimate Foundation, the project is a community-wide outreach program designed to increase girls’ participation in the sport of ultimate, and is part of the Girls’ Ultimate Movement.

New girls’ teams from four high schools will join the inaugural four from 2018 and the six from 2019, and will be a part of the program in its third year:

Wyoming High School – Cincinnati, Ohio 

Notre Dame Preparatory – Towson, Md.

St. Ursula Academy and Ursuline Academy – Cincinnati, Ohio* 

*Note: St. Ursula Academy and Ursuline Academy are combining to form one joint team.

The Girls’ Team Startup Project was launched in 2018 to give new or developing high school girls’ teams the resources and support they need to succeed as a team in order to ultimately help grow the girls’ division. Modeled after the College Women’s Startup Project, the Girls’ Team Startup Project provides support to participating schools for up to three years to help them develop into competitive and self-sustaining teams.

Free USA Ultimate youth memberships over the course of three years

A free GUM team startup kit

$500 Coaching Stipend

Free coach membership, Coaching Development Program clinic and background check

Free GUM headbands

Free uniforms for 15 players provided by Spin Ultimate
